Abstract

This study examines how the doctrine of sola fide has been interpreted and reinterpreted. To achieve this goal, the author uses the historical-theological analysis method (textual research analysis). Through this method, the author finds that Christians (churches) face views that are not only inconsistent with the sola fide of Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul, and the Reformers, but are no longer worthy of being called sola fide. The fundamental principle of Sola fide helps the people of God stand in the midst of hardship, suffering/sickness, pressure, threats, and persecution, and can even challenge the times by faith. Only faith alone in Christ can save this world, including those who have not believed in Him. This study's findings are meaningful as material for evaluating contemporary theology and as encouragement to engage in God’s agenda, namely the Church’s reformation agenda, which begins with and is carried out by reformation theology.
